Ron White, a long-time Nashville activist, recently appeared on Hard Knock Radio to discuss the expulsion of two African American lawmakers, Justin Jones, and Justin Pearson, from the Tennessee legislature. Jones and Pearson were expelled after helping lead a peaceful protest inside the state capitol and onto the floor of the state legislature. The protest, which was attended by dozens of students, was met with resistance from police and ultimately resulted in the lawmakers being expelled from the legislature.
In our interview, Ron White spoke about the challenges faced by African Americans living in Tennessee, which is dominated by a super majority far-right wing government that is hostile to Black and progressive interests. He highlighted the need for greater representation of Black voices in state politics and the importance of supporting progressive lawmakers like Jones and Pearson.
