We speak with community organizer Cesar Lagleva about persistent incidents of police terrorism in San Rafael. For those who don’t know, San Rafael is located in marine County which is often touted as one of the richest and most liberal counties in the country. The truth of the matter is Marin is one of the most desperate counties and when it comes to Brown and Black folks, racism in the form of police terrorism is alive and well.
We talk with Cesar and got the sordid details of a recent unwarranted police attack on a migrant worker named Mateo by SRPD. We learn about the long history of San Rafael police brutalizing Brown folks in the historic Canal District… We also learn about the many ways in which the community has fought back, including a recent lawsuit that Cesar Lagleva helped launch. We talk about the ways the community has fought back and the solidarity that has occurred by the mostly Brown Canal district and the mostly Black Marin City nearby…
