DJ Sake One and Excentrik Come Together in a Show of Solidarity and Release an Incredible Mixtape

In a recent episode of Hard Knock Radio, DJ Sake 1 and Excentrik, both respected organizers, activists, and longstanding figures in the Bay Area music scene, shared their insights and collaboration on a powerful mixtape titled “From the River to the Sea.” The collaboration between Sake, a prominent DJ known for his role in the Local 1200 collective, and Excentrik, a skilled producer affiliated with groundbreaking groups, including Arab Summit, serves as a symbol of solidarity.

What makes this project particularly impactful is the duo’s diverse backgrounds—Sake, a Jewish DJ, and Excentrik, a Palestinian producer—coming together to amplify Palestinian voices and cultural perspectives. Against the backdrop of 75 days of ongoing tragedy and genocide, they felt compelled to introduce a blend of Bay Area beats with the rich sounds of Palestinian artists.

Sake emphasized the importance of infiltrating spaces unfamiliar with Palestinian narratives, intending to create a bridge between communities through the universal language of music. The mixtape, aptly named, has achieved remarkable results, opening minds and sparking conversations.

During the interview, Sake delved into the history of Non-Zionist Jews who have steadfastly opposed settler occupation and the calls for the removal of Palestinians. Excentrik passionately expressed the collective anguish, pain, and anger felt by many witnessing the loss of thousands of lives, particularly innocent children, during the recent atrocities.

Excentrik also highlighted the insidious gaslighting tactics employed by mainstream media, describing it as a full-on blowtorch. Despite the brutality inflicted by the Israeli army, he conveyed a message of resilience, emphasizing that those suffering will stand tall and survive. Their conversation was a poignant reminder of the power of music to transcend boundaries and bring attention to critical issues, fostering empathy and understanding in the face of adversity.
