HKR-06-23-20: We speak with Kali Akuno the co-founder and co-director of Cooperation Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi about the push back to Black protests and demands for police accountability.
In recent weeks there have been a number of Anti Black Lives Matter/Pro Cop demonstrations put forth by local police organizations and white supremacist militia groups. There have also been a number racially charged incidents all over the country. There has also been 74 people who have been shot and killed by police since the May 25th murder of George Floyd.
Kali Akuno notes that we should not be suprised that the state and reactionary forces are flexing and trying to change the narrative
