We speak with producer/ rapper Black C of the iconic SF-based group RBL Posse. He just realsed a book, his new autobiography called ‘A Part of Survival From the Block to the Booth’. In our conversation, we cover many of the compelling topics laid out in the publication, including what life was like in the 1970s in his Hunters Point neighborhood. We talk about the migration of Black folks, including his parents, from Southern states like Texas to the Bay Area where they sought to improve their lives, only to be met with extreme social and economic challenges.
We talk about the infamous Crack Era in the 1980s, the War on Drugs and how it led to insidious gang wars that decimated Hunters Point and other Black neighborhoods throughout tSan Francisco. We talk about the historic gang truce that went down in HP and throughout the city that helped open doors for RBL Posse and other Hip Hop groups in SF to flourish.
We continue our conversation w/ Hip Hop Legend Black C.. Here we talk about the ins and outs of the music business and how violence impacted RBL and their Hunters Point neighborhood. We also talk about the many lessons younger generation and can and should learn from Black C
