Haiti and Cuba are epicenters to political and social unrest. Haiti just saw the assassination of its President Jovenel Moïse. Involved in that assassination were 3 Haitian Americans including one who was an informant for the DEA. We also saw the arrest of 26 Columbians mercenaries. We discuss the complexity of that scenario with former CUNY Professor Jerome Frantz.
Later on, in the show, we speak with long-time activist, Hip Hop artist Rodstarz of the group Rebel Diaz. We talk about the unrest unfolding in Cuba and the movement behind the #SOSCuba movement. He breaks down the complexity and political contradictions of that situation and the deep involvement of Hip Hop culture. He points out how rap music is being used as a way to spawn dissent against the government.
